Jesus Saves

By Caswell A. Reeves
I confess, that when this question was asked of me, I did not know what it meant.  It was explained that the word "SAVED" was a Bible word which refers to having asked Jesus Christ to save you and having asked, the assurance of knowing He saved you forever.  And, thereby, being able to say:  Yes, I am saved.  ARE YOU SAVED?

Would you like to be saved and know beyond any doubt that you are SAVED and going to heaven when you die?  You can know and God wants you to know (I John 5:13).  Take a few minutes and read this tract.  Let me share with you what God's Word says about being SAVED.  And perhaps you will experience God's wonderful salvation.

FIRST, you should know that God loves you and does not want you to perish, but wants you to be SAVED.  John 3:16 says, "...God so loved the world...", II Peter 3:9 says, God is "...not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (SAVED)."

SECOND, you must acknowledge that you are a sinner.  This is what God says in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."  As a sinner there is a penalty to be paid.  Romans 6:23 tells you the penalty is "death."  Now, you can appreciate what Christ's death means to you.  I Peter 2:24 says, "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:  by whose stripes ye were healed."  In other words, Jesus Christ has born the penalty of sin for you.  This is the demonstration of God's love for you (Romans 5:8).

THIRD, you must believe that God having accepted His Son's sacrifice then raised him from the dead to save you.  In II Corinthians 5:21, God says, "...he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."  And in Romans 10:9 you are told "...that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus (agree to what he has done), and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead (sincerely believe Christ is alive), thou shalt be SAVED."

FINALLY, you must ASK the Lord Jesus Christ to SAVE YOU.  Look what God's Word says in Romans 10:13:  "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED."  In Luke 19:10, you are told that the purpose of Christ's coming was "...to seek and to SAVE that which was lost."  If you believe God is in heaven, notice what Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am THE WAY, the truth and the life:  no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."  Again, in John 6:47, Jesus said, "...He that believeth on me hath EVERLASTING LIFE."  Now, if you truly believe Jesus Christ died for your sins, and rose again to SAVE YOU: Will you ask Him right now to save you?  Simply pray this prayer the most sincere way you can:  'Lord Jesus:  I am a sinner, forgive me; I believe you died for my sin, and I ask that you save me; giving me eternal life today.'

Now if you asked Christ to save you, you must believe that he did.  God doesn't lie (Titus 1:2).  If you in all honesty claimed God's promise to SAVE YOU, in Romans 10:13; Then you are SAVED. You can trust God's Word.
